Ice Fishing Gear, Tips and Advice

1. In order to go ice fishing you need special ice fishing gear including an auger for drilling your hole. An auger is a very big drill that you use to form your fishing hole (on the right).

3. Your ice fishing gear must also include fishing rods with large guides and a sensitive tip. Preferably use a micro-spinning reel with 4-8 lb test ice-line.

4. Ice fishing bait can be swedish pimple, kastmaster, rapala, bucktail, marabou jig, crappie minnows, wax worms, fatheads, tip-ups-herring, smelt sardines, etc.

5. You will also need ice fishing bobbers, bobber stops with beads, split-shot, jigs, spoons and hooks

6. Some optional ice fishing gear includes the mouth spreader, hook sharpener, ice picks, spud bar (to measure ice thickness)
